Ultimately, you want to find an agent who works professionally, has a good knowledge of the current property market, is able to meet your housing needs and wants, guides you through the transaction process and advises you on CPF or bank regulations for loans.

Get Recommendations

Ask friends, relatives, neighbours or colleagues whose judgement you trust. Alternatively, browse through newspaper Classified advertisements and contact agents actively marketing homes in your area, or who are from reputable companies.

Take your time

Don’t appoint an agent in a hurry or get cornered into signing a contract. Let him impress you with his track record, skills and sincerity; not with gimmicks like discounts and “special promotions”. Never sign up with agents who promise you a high price.

Conduct interviews

As you meet various agents, ask them how they intend to market your home. Test their knowledge of your neighbourhood by questioning them about the current asking price of similar units and what facilities or amenities are found nearby, or ask to see proof like copies of Option to Purchase forms.
